Film Series: showing of Ready Player One
In September the Union County Library System is teaming up with WVIA Public Media to showcase a unique free film series in celebration of Library Card Sign Up Month and The Great American Read. The Great American Read is an eight-part series that explores and celebrates the power of reading, told through the lens of America’s 100 best-loved novels (as chosen in a national survey). It investigates how and why writers create their fictional worlds, how we as readers are affected by these stories, and what these 100 different books have to say about our diverse nation and our shared human experience. Episodes are Tuesday nights at 8 PM resuming September 11 on WVIA TV. Vote for your favorite book now by visiting wvia.org/GreatAmericanRead.
The film series concludes with:
- Thursday, September 20 at 6:30 pm showing Ready Player One held in Hufnagle Park. Please note the film is rated PG-13.
Union County Library System and WVIA staff are on hand at each event for library card sign up and giveaways. Major production funding for The Great American Read provided by Anne Ray Foundation, A Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropy. Engagement funding provided by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and Anne Ray Foundation, A Margaret A Cargill Philanthropy.
