Slippery: Eels in the Susquehanna In-Person
Dr. Ed Slavishak, from the history department at Susquehanna University, will speak about the history of eel fishing in the Central Susquehanna River Valley. He will explore the regional traditions around eel fishing as both a pastime and a source of livelihood. And he will chronicle the cat-and-mouse game that ensued when the desire to catch eels ran up against the long arm of the law.
